LUCY BILLINGSLEY RECEIVES TWU LEADERSHIP AWARD

At the spring Dallas Leadership Luncheon, former university regent and commercial real-estate developer Lucy Billingsley was awarded for her professional and civic achievements. All proceeds from the annual event support TWU graduate student scholarships.

ACCELERATED PROGRESS EARNS NATIONAL HONOR

TWU’s commitment to positive change has paid dividends. The university won the 2023 ACE/Fidelity Investments Award for Institutional Transformation from the American Council on Education. This annual award recognizes a university’s innovative responses to higher education challenges in a brief period of time.

BRIDGING THE GAP

TWU’s Zero Tuition Guarantee aims to remove economic barriers to help eligible students complete their TWU education. The renewable effort helps bridge the gap between tuition, fees and federal grants to cover the remaining attendance costs.

NEW HUB FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

The award-winning AccelerateHER program, a part of TWU’s Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership, has expanded its efforts to provide earlystage women entrepreneurs with resources and education to fast track their companies into scalable and successful businesses. Abilene is the fourth hub — other sites are in Denton, Dallas and Houston.

The College of Business earned accreditation from AACSB International — The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business — considered the world’s top association of business schools. Less than 6% of the world's business schools have gained this distinction. The AACSB recognizes when a business college has met the most rigorous standards of educational excellence.

INFORMATICS CONFERENCE DELIVERED INSIGHTS

Clinical informatics, patient safety, and artificial intelligence were some of the topics explored at the 2023 Doswell Health Informatics Conference at the Dallas campus.

KOREA’S BEST NURSING STUDENTS HOSTED

TWU’s Center for Global Nursing hosted about a dozen nursing students from the Republic of South Korea at the Dallas campus. The students participated in lectures, shadowed at local hospitals, observed simulations and more.

A graduate team from TWU’s Health Care Administration department earned the top prize at the 13th Annual Case Competition hosted by the George McMillan Fleming Center for Healthcare Management at UTHealth Houston.
